When Dr. Behunin is not working at MPEH. She likes to spend to time with her family and cuddling with her two dogs. She enjoys the outdoors, including camping and stand up paddle boarding.
Kelsey Richards, DVM

Dr. Kelsey Richards grew up with horses in the Colorado Rockies and turned that lifelong passion into a career! She earned her bachelor’s degree in Equine Science with an emphasis in reproduction from Colorado State University, graduating magna cum laude. She was fortunate to stay at CSU for vet school, where she earned her DVM degree (also graduating magna cum laude — because who doesn’t like a little consistency!). After veterinary school, she completed a year of advanced training at Montana Equine Medical and Surgical Center, followed by practicing full-scope equine medicine in Idaho for many rewarding years.
While she has a particular love for internal medicine and chiropractic care, she truly enjoys the variety that equine practice offers — from preventative medicine, reproduction and lameness, to gastroscopy and dentistry. She especially enjoys field/ambulatory work, meeting horses in their natural environment and experiencing the fun and unpredictability that comes with it. She listens to each client’s goals to create collaborative, low-stress experiences, where the horse always comes first (and the owner a close second!).
She’s known for her curiosity, determination, and sense of humor, loves building relationships with clients, and mentoring future equine veterinarians. She’s also passionate about supporting the horse industry and being involved in community outreach and education. Outside of work, she can be found with her horses, cats, and goat, traveling, reading, or cheering on the Denver Broncos — often all at once. She’s excited to start this next chapter in Utah, while keeping her love for horses, people, and the great outdoors alive.
Hannah McKee, DVM

Dr. Hannah McKee is originally from Connecticut and has known from a young age that she wanted to become an equine veterinarian. She grew up riding horses and competing in the Hunt Seat division of the Interscholastic Equestrian Association, sparking a lifelong passion for equine care.
After high school, Hannah moved nearly 2,000 miles from home to attend Colorado State University, where she earned a degree in Equine Sciences. During her undergraduate studies, she expanded her global perspective by studying abroad at Massey University in New Zealand, focusing on equine gait analysis and podiatry.
Dr. McKee went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Colorado State University, with an emphasis on equine primary care, including sports medicine, dentistry, and podiatry. She also conducted research on equine colic and presented her findings at multiple professional conferences across Texas, Minnesota, and Colorado.
She began her veterinary career in a rural mixed-animal practice on Colorado’s Western Slope, where she treated “all creatures great and small” and gained invaluable experience delivering high-quality care in resource-limited settings. Following this formative experience, Dr. McKee returned to her true passion—equine medicine—and is thrilled to be practicing at Mountain Point Equine. Her professional interests include equine sports medicine, podiatry, dentistry, and emergency care.
Outside of the clinic, Hannah is the founder of The Equinnection, a business dedicated to promoting equine education and encouraging students from all backgrounds to pursue careers in equine medicine. She also enjoys photography and multimedia art, and loves spending time outdoors with her partner and their two dogs and cat.
Lyle Barbour, DVM
